Overview

British Columbia Deaf Education Committee (BCDEC)

BCDEC is the gateway for determining a student's eligibility to enter the BC Provincial School for the Deaf and/or the Provincial Oral Program.

Students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing have the right to attend these programs and receive instruction and access to information in the way that best meets their needs.  They have the right to attend a school with their DHH peers and receive support from DHH adults in the form of role models.  Students have a right to socialize with peers who are just like them and engage in activities that support their unique needs.

All applications for these programs will be carefully considered and reviewed by BCDEC before a decision is made.

See the Details tab for detailed information on the policies and procedures of BCDEC.
